Guest Speakers

 At our Club Meetings, we have guest speakers visit our Club and talk to us about their business, their lives, and other topics important to us as a club, as a community and as servants to the blind and disabled.   • Our club normally meets twice a month on the first and third Monday of each month.  MEETINGS ARE HELD AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, GREENSBORO LOCATED AT 1000  FRIENDLY AVE AT THE CORNER OF FRIENDLY AND MENDENHALL ST. Upcoming meetings are as follows:
  • May 7 Diane Whitley will talk about the “Kid Sight” program which utilizes the latest technology to test the eyesight of young children.


The Greensboro Host Lions Club has a number of events throughout the year, including fund raising to support vision and hearing projects, a VIP Christmas Party, and Vision Screenings in addition to working with DSS to provide scholarships for Camp Dogwood and the VIP Fishing Tournament. The 2018 VIP fishing tournament is October 22-25.

The second annual “Swing for Sight” golf tournament sponsored by the Greensboro Lions Club and the Industries of the Blind will be held on June 20, 2018 at Starmount Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Sponsors and Golfers are needed.  Contact Paul Marth at 336 420-8033 for more information.

The Lion’s Christmas Party for the Visually Impaired has been set for December 15th, 2018 at 2 p.m. The location will be at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church.  Invitations will be mailed in November.

Need a new car or truck?  Lions are selling raffle tickets for $10.00 to held support Camp Dogwood, a camp for the visually impaired. The raffle winner gets the choice or a new truck or car!   Ask a Lion how you can get a ticket.

We  collect used eyeglasses for use in third world countries. You may drop off eyeglasses at the Walmart optical section or at most ophthalmologist or optometrist offices from where Lions will pick those up. You can also give them to any Lion.

The club is collecting for “Brighter Visions” to support the work of the North Carolina Lions Foundation which supports Camp Dogwood for the Blind, eye exams and glasses, the Visually Impaired Fishing Tournament and other projects.  If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution to support this project you may make a check out to the Greensboro Lions Foundation and mail it to Paul Marth, 6004 Deer Park Circle, Greensboro, NC 27455.
